Frequently asked questions:

Q:  My event only requires a short traveling distance from pick up to drop off.  Do I have to pay for a two-hour reservation even though I won’t be using the vehicle for that long?

A:  Most people don’t realize how much work goes into preparing for an event. We typically start the process of washing and grooming the horses 3 to 4 hours ahead of time.

The cost of shoeing each draft horse alone is over $100! Then there is the preparation and decorating of the carriage along with the cost of feed, supplies and insurance. Whether we dress them and ourselves up for 15 minutes or 2 hours, it takes the same amount of work and expense. Trust me, we are not getting rich on our small operation but our love of people and horses keeps us going.

Q:  When does the “clock” begin and end for our event?

A:  When the party is loaded into the vehicle for transportation. We don’t charge for our travel time to the chosen pick up area. Then the “clock” stops when the party is unloaded at their destination.

Q:  What can we do to make better use of our 2-hour reservation?

A:  Some people like to entertain their guests by letting them take short rides in the carriage during the event.  You can share your experience with your guests and let them see how special a ride in a horse drawn vehicle is.

Q:  What about getting a ride to the event and back?

A:  As long as it is in the 2-hour time limit, we will wait outside or in a suitable area for the event to end. For example, we typically pick the bride and bridesmaids up and take them to the church or other location, then wait until the ceremony ends taking both bride and groom to the reception or area to be picked up. We can also take them for a short ride and to be photographed.

Q:  What about small children riding alone in the horse drawn vehicle?

A:  We ask that a parent accompany children under the age of twelve unless they sign a release of liability form for the child to ride alone. Children must have written parental consent to ride alone.
